These Are A Few...

Ever since I lived in the States, some ten or so (has it really been that long?) years ago, I have missed certain things.

Some of these things, through divine providence (and well placed pleas) have found their way into our culture and our supermarkets and keep me happy on a regular basis.

Things like:

Coffee Frappuccino. My daily indulgence.

Especially the choc-iced custard-filled ones. Its a good thing I don't work in the city or at the airport.

...although here they're packaged like this:

My favourite breakfast. That I make myself that is. My favourite real breakfast is Eggs Benedict, but I'm useless at poaching eggs and making hollandaise sauce. I'm very good at pouring cereal though.

Mmmmmm. Peanut Butter Cups. Peanut butter and chocolate. What a wonderful combo. Who woulda thunk it?

All these tasty treats bring great joy to my heart (and my stomach).

However there are other things which despite my best efforts have yet to become readily available here. Hopefully one day soon they will be easily accessible, but until that day I have to rely on the goodness of people like Bestie P's family, who (bless their cotton socks) sent the following items home from NY with Bestie P today:

Best cold/flu medication. Ever. No correspondence will be entered into on this unless you have tried it before.

All-sugar, apple & cinammon flavoured cereal. Bit like fruit-loops. Only apple & cinammon flavoured (derrr).

Pink Lemonade Snapple. Nectar of the gods. Don't believe the "all-natural" tag... its full of sugar. But sooo tasty. The taste takes me straight back to the afternoons I spent in Borders at Tysons Corner (Vienna, VA) after picking the kids up at school. Not my kids. My cousin's kids. I was living with them.

Hidden Valley Ranch dressing. Except today it came in sachets which you mix with sour cream or water and mayo. Full of taste (and fat). Yummmmy. I've gotta get mixing.

Yes I know Who Weekly is practically the same thing (they nick all the articles and I guarantee that cover of Brooke will be featured somewhere in the next issue of Who), but I love it all the same.

Thank you Dot & Gwen - you rock my world. I am in sugar heaven and have spent a wonderful hour reading People cover-to-cover. I'm even tempted to go and procure a cold so I can take the Nyquil.

Sugar is natural. Therefore the Snapple MUST be good for you.

Same for the Krispy Kremes, then.

Flour, sugar, and more sugar. Voila! All-natural.

Woo-hoo!

Brilliant elaine. Bloody brilliant. I'm going to use that to justify all my dodgy food choices in future...

including KK's. As will bevis, no doubt?

Way ahead of you.

Since leaving the above comment, I've gone away and written a health book that completely condones and excuses the mass-consumption of sugary foods, with particular emphasis on Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

It'll be released by Penguin Books in two weeks.

I call it: "It's Okay To Eat It; I Know Better Than You."
